Scheduled Aircraft Operations: 2007 – 2017

Airlines throughout the world are flying aircraft with more seats and flying longer stage lengths according to schedule data analysis. During June 2007, the average aircraft seat size was 118 seats. By 2012, average seats per departure increased 8.5% to 128 seats. Currently, average seats per departure are up to 142 during June 2017 (more than a 20% increase over 2007). 

Airlines are also flying longer stage lengths. During June 2007, the average flight was 718 miles. Airlines have increased that distance by 16.6% to 837 miles per trip during June 2017.
