Globalization of Services

A Game-Changing Decade

Driven by the digital revolution, the development of emerging countries and national market deregulation, services are globalizing very rapidly (+9% a year) and are expected to drive an intangible economy structured around global service networks.

Professional service, such as banking and IT services have been precursors in establishing global delivery models; in the B2C arena, an increasing number of actors are now being forced to reinvent themselves under the pressure from Google, Amazon, Apple, Booking or Expedia.

Western players have now a ten-year window of opportunity to take advantage of their relative advance and export their know-how before being overtaken by emerging operators. Service industrialization and globalization go hand in hand for corporate leaders, who should now rethink how best to manage their portfolio of products and services while investing in the construction of global platforms.
