We are delighted to announce that our vice president, Dr. Marc Meketon, has been honored with the 2023 Distinguished Member Award from the INFORMS Railway Applications Section (RAS), in recognition of his outstanding service to the railway industry.
INFORMS, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, is a global association with more than 12,500 members. It promotes data and decision sciences through publications, conferences, and professional development. The Distinguished Member Award is presented annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to RAS with far-reaching impact.

With decades of experience and dedication to INFORMS RAS, Dr. Meketon has made substantial contributions to railway operations and planning. In 2003, he was part of the team that won the Franz Edelman prize for the best application of management science for work at Canadian Pacific Railway. He has co-authored key sections of the Handbook of Railway Operations Research. His notable articles, such as on his work for the Kazakhstan National Railway, have provided invaluable insights.
Dr. Meketon is an architect of Oliver Wyman's MultiRail, a railway planning solution that helps railways worldwide in optimizing operations. His consulting work with major freight railways and his role as a passenger rail scheduling consultant have significantly improved railway efficiency globally.
