How Are Consumers Shopping During The COVID-19 Outbreak?

Results based on global customer survey

Editor's note: Oliver Wyman is monitoring the COVID-19 events in real time, and we have compiled resources to help our clients and the industries they serve. Please continue to monitor the Responding To Coronavirus Hub and the Oliver Wyman RCG Coronavirus Hub for updates.

COVID-19 has dramatically changed customer behavior in many ways. Oliver Wyman conducted two surveys over March and April to see how consumers globally have changed their shopping habits and whether they plan to continue those changes as things normalize. Additionally, we leveraged social media trends, including Twitter and Google, to understand how customer shopping behaviors have changed as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. By analyzing thousands of tweets in six countries (US, UK, Italy, Germany, and France) from April 1st to 26th we were able to pull out and explore some of the trends.

Following are some of the top insights in each country. To learn more about the global results, click here
