Government agencies often have access to a wealth of information far beyond that available to most private sector firms. In our experience, most agencies make good use of data to inform day-to-day operations: regulators collect and use data to identify and stop violations, guarantors and lenders to adjudicate loans, and tax agencies and benefit organizations to prevent non-compliance. However, many agency leaders we speak with would like to make better use of this information to drive innovation.
In this report we make a case for information driven innovation. We also detail successful innovation lessons learned, key factors in forming an Information Driven Innovation function and how to overcome the initial barriers.
