In structured finance, the best do much better then the rest. Supply of structured finance is growing faster than the demand. As margins decline and deals get riskier, unsophisticated players will increasingly participate in under-priced deals. Growing competition for the profitable arranger role will reduce the success rate and average returns of all but the most skillful.
