Overview
Autonomy is no longer fiction and is rapidly becoming a reality, with UAV-enabled urban parcel delivery in Singapore, flying-taxis service in Dubai, the rise of professional drones, and proliferation of new autonomous vehicles and trains.
The progressive switchover of different transportation modes will result in more change in the industry in the next 10 years than in the last 60. Autonomy will blur traditional frontiers across vehicles. It will create new usages in mobility, defense & security, and supply chains. It will disrupt traditional value chains, generate new business models and put industry leaders at risk, as specialized start-ups and digital giants will grab increasing market shares in this fast-evolving space. All in all, by 2030, the revolution of autonomy should result in a massive new market of around US$3,500 billion per annum.
