Oliver Wyman Session
Stakeholder collaboration in achieving Saudi aviation vision
Monday, November 7
1:00 – 1:45 PM GMT+3
As part of its aviation expansion strategy, Saudi Arabia has announced plans to launch a second national airline. The new airline will build international tourist arrivals, while the existing national carrier (Saudia) will handle Hajj and Umra travelers exclusively. Already boasting the largest domestic aviation market in the Middle East and one of the top 5 global routes in 2021 (Jeddah-Riyadh), Saudi Arabia currently has 5 nationally operating airlines and adding another full-service airline will support its efforts to attract 100 million tourists a year to the Kingdom by 2030, a sixfold increase from 2019.
Planned development across Saudi Arabia's aviation sector includes airports, as well the large support services sector such as shipping, catering, maintenance and ground handling services, creating immense investment opportunities for local and international investors.
