Overview

Oliver Wyman Health & Life Sciences Partner Sukanya Soderland was a featured panelist at this year's SXSW Conference. Drawing on her experience advising health organizations on digital strategy, she shed light on what (still) stands in the way of a consumer-friendly, data-rich health experience.

ABOUT THE PANEL | Health Data: WTF? We’ve Been to the Moon, But…!

In 1969 man landed on the moon. In 2017 try to obtain your complete medical record. In an automated world, why does healthcare lag? $30+ billion in federal incentives, countless billions in infrastructure yet health data largely remains siloed. Dr. Karen DeSalvo, National Coordinator for Health IT (HHS – Obama), Charles Huang, and Sukanya Soderland participated in a panel discussion on the market dynamics of health data. Brian Baum, CEO of vitaTrackr  moderated the discussion and outlined a market-based alternative being implemented in Austin to unlock the flow of health data based on consumer direction.
