Centre For Aviation: Douglas Carlucci On How COVID-19 Changed Predictability In The Airlines System

Douglas Carlucci, partner and Asia Pacific head of transportation and services, spoke at the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit 2023 about how airlines traditionally work with a lot of predictability. When the pandemic happened, "the frequency of the schedule changes due to borders openings and closings, expectations around pilot [preparedness], whether there were aircraft available, new relationships with ground handlers — these things contributed to lot of variability in the ability to operate a schedule".
Douglas added that these were areas of improvement where Oliver Wyman has been working with their clients to build a better and more reliable operational system.
