Business Times Singapore: Jacob Hook On How Cities Are Bracing Themselves For The Digital Revolution

Oliver Wyman Asia Pacific Managing Partner Jacob Hook was interviewed amongst four other industry experts to share their views on the development of smart cities in Asia. The Business Times feature provides a preview into the insights that will be discussed at ConnecTechAsia 2019 Summit in Singapore. The event is a flagship conference within Asia, supported by The Infocomm Media Development Authority Singapore, for innovative sessions by technology’s rising starts and thought-provoking conversations with fellow industry peers.

Jacob spoke about the recent comprehensive research in Oliver Wyman to understand how cities globally are preparing for the technology disruptions and also shared preliminary findings on Asian cities ranking high along the ‘development’ vector which assesses the momentum of cities to meet technology disruptions.

He quoted examples of thoughtfully designed smart solutions from cities like Singapore and China that has already helped change lives for the people using the services and also elaborated on the challenges that still remain for these cities, particularly on data as the foundation for any smart city application.
