Every person should have access to healthy, affordable food, yet thousands of people across the UK go without fresh fruit and vegetables, impacting their health. Nutritious, healthy food remains inaccessible and unaffordable for many on lower incomes. That’s where the Alexandra Rose Charity steps in. The organization is dedicated to combatting food poverty and addressing health inequities in the UK. Through their Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project they improve access to healthy food for people on low incomes, with a special focus on families with young children and adults with multiple long-term health conditions. Through these initiatives, the charity not only improves the health and well-being of individuals and families but also bolsters local traders and markets, contributing to the growth of local economies. Over the past five years, Alexandra Rose has experienced significant growth, successfully supporting thousands of families through 10 impactful projects spread across the UK.
We’re grateful to the Oliver Wyman team for their invaluable support in shaping our next five-year strategy. Their insights helped us understand the opportunities and challenges ahead, and their analysis and facilitation have given us the knowledge and headspace to do strategy wellJonathan Pauling, CEO, Alexandra Rose Charity
Our relationship with Alexandra Rose began in 2019, when we assisted the charity in developing its initial five-year strategy. Building on that foundation, we recently partnered again to help plan the next five years of their journey. To do this, we conducted a comprehensive review of Alexandra Rose’s operations and explored opportunities for future development. This included benchmarking against other successful charities to identify best practices, interviewing key stakeholders to gather feedback on Alexandra Rose’s performance, and exploring potential technology advancements that could enhance their service delivery. Additionally, we focused on defining the charity’s End State Ambition and create a clear, actionable roadmap to achieve it.
It was a pleasure to work with Alexandra Rose Charity — a targeted initiative that does great work on addressing food poverty in the UK and where our skills can help them deliver even more impactSerge Gwynne, Partner, Oliver Wyman
A key part of this strategic planning process involved organizing and hosting an away day with Alexander Rose’s senior management team and trustees. This event provided a valuable opportunity for open and in-depth discussions about the charity’s future strategies. The day was a success, enabling the team and trustees to have productive discussions on how Alexandra Rose can continue to grow and maximize its impact. Our analysis supported the charity in aligning on a shared vision for the future and in planning for both the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
