Empowering Social Workers To Transform Children’s Lives

Our collaboration with Frontline helps support social workers and create a brighter future for vulnerable children

More than 700,000 children and their families in England depend on the support of social workers each year. These dedicated professionals provide essential help to vulnerable children and families — but they need support, too. That’s why we are proud to have collaborated with Frontline, England’s largest social work charity, which is dedicated to making social work better for children and their families. Frontline’s mission is truly inspiring: to create social change by developing excellent social work practice, leadership and innovation for children in need of a safe and stable home.

One of its impactful initiatives is the Frontline Fellowship, a community of social workers who have received training from Frontline. Since its inception in 2016 with 104 fellows, the Fellowship has expanded to include more than 3,000 members. Frontline provides training, coaching and support to help these professionals to become better practitioners and leaders, and to develop innovative ideas to transform the lives of vulnerable children across the country.

The Oliver Wyman team analyzed our alumni engagement data, providing useful insights that helped us strategize our approach to alumni engagement and create concrete plans for measuring engagement impact

Over a four-week period, our team in Newcastle worked closely with the Fellowship team to deepen their understanding of Fellowship engagement and its targeted outcomes. By analyzing historical engagement data, we provided insights to help the Fellowship team better support its members in making a meaningful difference. The work by our data and analytics team focused specifically on how fellows engage in different regions and in different stages of their career, allowing Frontline to tailor their Fellowship engagement and optimize the impact of their initiatives on fellows’ professional development.

Drawing from our experience with similar charitable organizations, we also guided the Fellowship team on best practices for assessing whether their targeted outcomes are being achieved, ensuring their efforts are both well-directed and measurable.

It was a pleasure to work with Frontline on this important topic. Having the opportunity to apply the analytical rigor we bring to all our projects in a social impact context was a uniquely rewarding experience
