Partner, United Arab Emirates Head
 // . //  Our People //  Adel Alfalasi

Adel is the head of the UAE at Oliver Wyman and a partner in the Government and Public Institutions Practice.

He works with a team of partners and consultants across the Emirates and the wider India, Middle East, and Africa region to advise governments on solving their most complex and pressing challenges. He’s an expert in large-scale transformations as well as digital change and agility in the public sector.

Solving problems for our clients is what motivates me, as does the smile, the thank you, and the warm handshake we get when we make breakthroughs and achieve what needs to be done

Adel has worked in both the public and private sector throughout his career, including at the UAE’s Prime Minister’s Office. He also founded the Dubai Competitiveness Council and served as its Executive Director. In his private sector work, he was a key team member on the mergers of several large financial institutions in the UAE. This experience cemented his passion for transformations — he enjoys realizing the ambitions and the scale in the process, while also focusing on the details to get the most out of an integration.

“What I love about our work is that we enact positive change while holding true to our values. That’s the spirit of the UAE too. It’s an honor to be able to contribute to the economic growth of my country – and by extension its social growth,” says Adel.

Alfalasi also leads Oliver Wyman’s Consultant Development Programme in the UAE, a 6-12-month program that fosters future talent by giving Emirati graduates hands-on consulting experience to help kick-start their careers. He also serves on the board of Injaz, a non-profit organization that works to boost entrepreneurship across the Arab world.

He is currently writing a book on the New Silk Road with Hong Kong-based Oliver Wyman partner Ben Simpfendorfer. The pair are exploring the new dynamics at play across the Middle East and Asia, which accounts for 45% of the global economy.

Outside of Oliver Wyman, Adel practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has competed in several tournaments. He’s also an avid traveler, having visited more than 50 countries.

He is an alumnus of both Oxford and Colombia Business Schools, as well as the UAE Government Leadership Program.
