Oliver Wyman CEO Speaks At Key AI Event In Saudi Arabia

In recent years, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has aimed to establish itself as a leader in artificial intelligence, and now other Gulf countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, are also intensifying their efforts in this field. Nick Studer, CEO of Oliver Wyman Group, noted at the GAIN summit that focusing on Arabic language models could enable Saudi Arabia to compete with English-speaking markets, which currently have an "underlying advantage" due to the availability of numerous large language models. Nick shared that there are over half a dozen Arabic-based large language models in development in Saudi Arabia, targeting various applications from chat to governmental and corporate uses, and emphasizing the importance of regulation, stating, “It is critical that we have sensible regulation in place.”
