Reuters: Why U.S. Airline Pilot Wages Are Outpacing Global Rises

The U.S. domestic aviation industry is rebounding to pre-pandemic levels. But, the demand in domestic travel over the last year has displayed a major pilot shortage due to many experienced pilots retiring as COVID-19 emerged.

Research from Oliver Wyman Group shows that North America is the only region with a lingering shortage of about 8,000 pilots. Airlines are attempting to appeal to pilots by raising compensation, but the pilot shortage within the region remain present.
