The Economist: Oil Traders Going Strong

Despite a terrible year for oil producers, oil traders are going strong.

What makes them so resilient? According to Oliver Wyman, a consultancy, their most recent boom years coincided with the financial crisis of 2007-09 and the oil-price crash of 2014-15 and the industry benefits from price volatility, rather than absolute price levels.
