LA Times: Joern Buss On COVID’s Impact On Car Dealers

Oliver Wyman partner Joern Buss was quoted in a Los Angeles Times story titled “Car dealers are desperate. Does that make it a good time to buy a vehicle online?”  Joern discussed how COVID-19 is impacting auto sales with many dealerships closed and whether more people are buying cars online.

“For the majority of dealers, online sales were only a small percentage of total sales” before coronavirus hit, said Joern Buss, an auto industry consultant with the firm Oliver Wyman. Most “are not set up to handle” a surge in online demand.
