Guardian: A Hard Brexit Could Threaten The UK’s Competitive Advantage

Will Hutton, Columnist for the Observer, included our latest Brexit findings in an opinion piece titled “Enough already: in the national interest, we must stop a hard Brexit”.

Hutton discussed the importance of the EU’s influence on the UK, highlighting our research: 

We were at the centre of a free trade, rules-based order that spanned nearly half the world’s countries – and worth up to a £1,000 a year for the average family in lower prices, estimated the consultancy Oliver Wyman.

Our full report “Costs Up, Prices Up: Brexit’s Impact on Consumer Businesses and Their Customers,” will be published early July, 2018. It quantifies how costs from tariffs, red tape (non-tariff barriers), and labour flow into the supply chain and lower profits, even when companies take mitigating actions like putting up prices.
