Women make up only three percent of airline CEOs, five percent of pilots, and 10 percent of engineers. Improving these stark statistics requires the efforts of more than one organization: the whole industry needs to work towards change, supported by the UK government.
With 97 percent of leaders in aviation being men, men have to be engaged as allies and agents of change. They need to be educated and aware of biases. Regardless of gender, it is important to authentically listen, ask questions, and be curious about people who might be different to you in your organization or team.
