BBC Radio 4: Household Costs To Increase From Brexit Red Tape

Presenting our latest research into Brexit outcomes for UK companies and the customers they serve, Partner Duncan Brewer was quizzed on why products will get more expensive, even with the removal of import tariffs.

He described how import tariffs formed only a small part of the cost of products bought by shoppers, and that the increasing red tape from leaving the EU would push prices up even if the UK removed import tariffs entirely.

The new research, to be published at the end of June, quantifies how costs from tariffs, red tape (non-tariff barriers), and labour flow into the supply chain and lower profits, even when companies take mitigating actions like putting up prices.
