New consultants at Oliver Wyman get greater client and global opportunities and develop unique expertise sooner than their peers at other consulting firms. Specialized expertise enables you to ‘own’ an area of our business early on and create more impact for our clients. Some clients still hire generalist ‘management’ consultancies for what they think. Oliver Wyman clients hire us for what we know.

How far do you want to go?

As a new consultant, you’ll set your own course and advance at your own speed. We don’t require you to leave after 2 years for graduate school.

Interns get real responsibility here

Internships at Oliver Wyman provide a true taste of life as a consultant and unique preparation for a full-time role. You’ll be staffed on projects and treated like full team members with responsibility for a distinct piece of work. Coaching and feedback is provided throughout your time with us. We consider candidates in their penultimate year of university study. Most join during the summer or a winter term. In some European countries, we offer internships throughout the year.


New Consultants often travel and work on projects from the start. Most of the work is research and analysis for project teams. You’ll have a lot of freedom in how you structure your tasks. And, because you’re creating the fundamental knowledge on which our company runs, you can command anyone’s full attention.

Senior Consultant

Senior Consultants have enough experience to ask the right questions, frame hypotheses, and initiate research to find the answers. Challenges in different fields will help you discover where you’d like to focus. As a Senior Consultant, you will be shaping the problems that we work on and developing specialized expertise that others will seek out.


Associates break down complex problems into discrete tasks. You’ll work side by side with clients and your project team members to move projects forward and manage small teams to get the work done. Clients and colleagues look to Associates for unique insight into the subject area which they have chosen.

Engagement Manager

ENGAGEMENT MANAGERS are the on-scene leaders who run our projects day to day. It’s a role that demands thought leadership at the strategic level – and command of all the technical and operational details of execution. You will need great communication skills and the ability to forge strong relationships.


Principals are our content experts and lead complex client projects. They play a central role, alongside our Partners,  in client relationships and commercial processes. We look for a record of success in the industry field, and expect you to work closely with Partners to discover new opportunities for Oliver Wyman.


Oliver Wyman Partners are influential leaders in global industries, and the leaders of our firm. To become a Partner here you must own an area of expertise, be among the best in the world at building long-term relationships with executives at Global 1000 companies, and developing the talents of Oliver Wyman people at every level.

Professional Development

Mentors at every level help you learn and leadLearning by doing is the essence of the Oliver Wyman experience. You will be mentored by Oliver Wyman leaders at every stage in your journey. Informal ‘buddies’ will help you deal with unfamiliar challenges while settling in to a new office, and a Career Advisor will be your independent sounding board at every turn. This is in addition to continuous feedback from each project and at year-end. We also provide you with a mid-year career plan and a dedicated Talent Manager is minding your development along the way. Training programs complement your mentoring and apprentice-style learning.

Ultimately, your career trajectory is based on performance, and when you perform strongly you’ll progress. It means the job continuously stays new, challenging and rewarding. Strong performance is rewarded both financially and by upward career movement. And we’re transparent about it.
