Oliver Wyman at the 2012 World Health Care Congress

This is a critical time for healthcare stakeholders - healthcare reform is coming, though its exact form remains in flux. April 16-18, the 9th Annual World Health Care Congress will bring together over 1600 industry leaders for three days of tackling the issues in Washington, D.C. On April 17, Oliver Wyman will participate in two sessions:

10:45 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.: Delivering High Value Care – Business Models that Provide More Coordinated, High Quality and Cost-Effective Care

Dr. Jim Bonnette, Oliver Wyman’s Chief Medical Officer, will moderate a panel with Carilion Clinic and Tenet Healthcare. They’ll discuss the key organizational changes that helped them make real inroads in value-based healthcare. Specifically, the session will cover:

  • Creating organizational alignment around accountability and the performance management agenda
  • Leverage incentives, goals and IT infrastructure to lead cultural change and the transition to high value care

1:45 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Accelerating the Care Delivery Transformation to Value – How do Providers Bend the Innovation and Impact Curve from Years to Months?

CareMore co-founder and former Chief Medical Officer Don Furman will join Jim for a talk with executives from Cornerstone and Genesys. The two leading-edge regional provider organizations will open up about their journey from volume to value – a journey that, contrary to popular belief, doesn’t have to be measured in decades. (For more on the remarkable Cornerstone story, see this piece in The Business Journal.)

Oliver Wyman has developed deep capabilities in this arena: from assisting in provider transformation to value-based strategies for health plans to making sense of healthcare reform. For more of our latest thinking, please see our whitepapers in the column at right.
