Social Impact

Hazlopossible

2021 strategic plan and operating model redesign

Introduction

Hazloposible is an organization that aims to boost the participation from society in the nonprofit space using technology. Since 1999, Hazloposible has developed multiple digital platforms to help people and companies collaborate on social causes and generate positive impact. Today, they manage a number of related websites: hacesfalta.org, which offers opportunities to volunteer and work in NGO’s; solucionesong.org, which offers online advice for NGO’s from professional volunteers; tucodigovaacambiarelmundo.org, which facilitates collaboration between developers and social entrepreneurs to resolve technological needs with social goals; probonos.net, a pro-bono marketplace; and lastly, microdonaciones.net, a crowdsourcing site for social causes.

I would like to thank you immensely for this exercise. The analysis is magnificent, the proposal is very solid and has all the necessary ingredients to trigger the necessary change to our organization
Catalina Parra, President and Co-Founder, Hazloposible

Scope

Oliver Wyman engaged in a 10-week project to redesign Hazloposible’s 2018-2021 strategic plan. Hazloposible’s business model was at risk, driven by numerous societal changes: accessible technology, new volunteering concept, corporate’s new philanthropy model, etc. The organization had been unsuccessful in redefining its role in the third sector during the past three years. Oliver Wyman performed internal analyses of Hazloposible, interviewed and ran studio-model sessions with NGOs and corporations, and assessed their value proposition vis-à-vis emerging trends in the third sector.

Leading this project for Hazloposible has been a fulfilling experience. The intellectual and organizational challenge was high and, at the same time, the sense of greater good was very intense

Impact

Our results lay the grounds for a deep review of the organization’s strategy. Our efforts were synthesized into a series of strategic initiatives – structured around three distinct working blocks: companies, networks, and citizenship – and a sustainability and operating model plan.

Hazloposible was a unique project for multiple reasons: first, working to reshape the third sector was not only extremely challenging but very fulfilling; secondly, given that we worked for a platform, the impact of the measures we proposed was even greater than expected; third, the human and consulting skills developed are not easy to find in the usual Oliver Wyman project
