The Economist: The Risks Of Replacing LIBOR

In a story on the LIBOR transition, The Economist said a scramble is underway to replace it.

From the Federal Reserve to financial professionals, it has been agreed that LIBOR is headed for extinction.

However, quoting our report Making the world's most important number less important,  it highlighted that on LIBOR’s flimsy foundation lie a staggering $260trn-worth of financial products, from interest-rate swaps to retail mortgages, on which they are priced.

Creating and then switching to truly market-based alternatives is therefore an almighty task.
