Bloomberg: Ron Harbour On Evolving Operating Trends Among Large US Automakers

Oliver Wyman partner, Ron Harbour, was quoted in a story titled, “Detroit is Back in Retrench Mode, This Time to Make Real Money,” in Bloomberg.

The article follows the recent decisions by Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV to discontinue some car models. All three automakers have concluded that they will not be making every type of model for all markets, instead focusing on their money-makers. According to Ron Harbour, “When they were trying to be all things to all people, they  made a plethora of cars and maybe a third of them made money. They felt it was their responsibility. Now they want to show returns and profit growth.”
