Thilo is a principal based in our Düsseldorf office.

He brings more than 14 years of consulting experience, focusing on helping clients unlock substantial, sustainable value in procurement and large-scale transformation programs, with emphasis on category strategies, cost reduction, operating model improvements, and supply chain crisis management.

In his client work, Thilo supports organizations across sectors in designing and delivering impactful procurement savings programs and resilient operating models. He has led major savings initiatives across industries, with a particular focus on industrial manufacturing and transport and logistics. His experience spans the full procurement lifecycle — from category strategy and source-to-contract design to implementation and performance tracking — always with a strong bias toward measurable impact and pragmatic execution.

Thilo has a proven track record in high-stakes and complex environments, including post-merger integration. He has managed global savings programs with order volumes in the tens of billions of euros, negotiated material savings on multibillion-euro order books, and trained more than 100 buyers in advanced negotiation techniques. Beyond procurement, Thilo is deeply involved in unlocking the potential of AI — both in developing AI-driven offerings for clients and in enhancing how consulting teams serve clients in the age of AI.

Thilo studied at the University of Bonn in Germany, where he earned both a diploma and a PhD in pure mathematics. He has also passed the CFA Level I exam and is fluent in German and English.

What sets Thilo apart is his combination of analytical rigor, his calmness under pressure, and his practical, collaborative style with client teams. He is passionate about creating impact beyond the bottom line and leads Oliver Wyman’s social impact program in the DACH region, supporting organizations that tackle some of society’s most pressing challenges. Outside of work, Thilo spends his time with his wife, three kids and their dog, hiking in the countryside, playing board games and enjoying storytelling.
