Sunny Xi is a Principal in Oliver Wyman’s Singapore office, focusing on supporting clients in the aviation ecosystem. An aviation enthusiast since his childhood, Sunny is passionate about the ongoing evolution in the industry. He has over a decade of experience working across six continents and offers global perspectives to clients in the Asia-Pacific region.

Aviation excites me because it connects the world to foster better cultural understanding and I feel very lucky to focus my work in this sector. Asia-Pacific has some of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world, and the growth drives tough problems for all the players in the ecosystem

Clients collaborate with him to tackle complex problems within the industry, including network and fleet planning, customer experience, and operations efficiency and resiliency. Looking forward, Sunny sees climate and sustainability as a key focus area across the aviation ecosystem.

Aviation is a notoriously hard-to-abate sector with long product life cycles, and as a result the industry has become quite resourceful in its pathway to net-zero. There’s no silver bullet, and it will take a collective, committed effort across sustainable fuel, efficient operations, and new technologies to reach net-zero

Sunny holds an MBA in Multinational Management and Marketing and Operations from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelors in Economics and Psychology from Yale University. In his spare time, he enjoys sports of all types, exploring new wine regions with his wife, and testing out different recipes on his charcoal grill.
