Simon is a principal in our Actuarial Life Practice, based in Hartford, Connecticut.
With a focus on the evolving US regulatory framework, he helps clients understand the impact of regulatory changes on their business, advising them around methodology and process to ensure they are maintaining compliance, optimizing capital, and making strategic business decisions.
As the leader of Oliver Wyman’s efforts to monitor regulatory changes affecting statutory valuation and capital requirements, Simon is an expert in principles-based reserving (PBR) for non-variable annuities (VM-22), AG Reinsurance AAT (AG 55), the GOES scenario generator, and proposed methodology changes to C3P1 and C3P2. He also recognizes a continued need for clients to improve asset-liability management (ALM) — for both domestic operations and offshore reinsurance solutions — to manage economic volatility and gain a competitive edge.
Navigating regulatory change is an opportunity for companies to refine their asset strategies and thrive within evolving frameworks
In addition to his work with emerging US regulations, Simon has more than a decade of experience at Oliver Wyman assisting companies with AXIS modeling, product development and pricing, and life and annuity product valuation. He also oversees actuarial model conversions and validation efforts.
Simon obtained his bachelor of science in actuarial science from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). In addition to being a fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, he is actively involved with the SOA’s Life and Annuities Community and the Academy’s Life Valuation Committee. He is also a frequent speaker at industry meetings.
On a personal note, Simon is a certified snowboard instructor and enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
