Nobuyuki (Nobu) is a principal in our Actuarial Practice, based in Tokyo.
With more than 30 years of experience in Japan's insurance industry, he has deep expertise in local regulations and business operations.
Nobu specializes in consulting for life insurance companies, focusing on enterprise risk management (ERM), Japan economic solvency ratio (ESR) regulation, asset and liability management (ALM), actuarial valuation, pricing, and financial projections. He has also played a key role in the successful mergers and acquisitions of several insurance companies in Japan.
Before joining Oliver Wyman, Nobu held several senior executive positions, including leading the ERM/ESR team of the actuarial practice at a Big Four consulting firm and serving as chief risk officer (CRO) at a domestic life insurance company.

Nobu is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Japan and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary. He earned an MBA with high distinction from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Outside of work, Nobu practices Kendo, a Japanese martial art he began at age seven, following the motto "Persistence pays off." He also enjoys traveling and visiting museums during the holidays.
