Mark is a principal in our Actuarial Property and Casualty Practice, based in Irvine, California.

In addition to reserving for insurance exposures, he specializes in loyalty programs, with more than 15 years of experience helping companies manage their loyalty program liabilities and understand customer behavior.

He joined Oliver Wyman after a 16-year career in an actuarial consulting at another firm. He continues to value the opportunity to be a leader and mentor to those with whom he collaborates.

I have always been attracted to actuarial consulting specifically because of the unique intersection of mathematical and business skills

Mark’s typical loyalty projects involve breakage and cost per point. He particularly enjoys assisting programs in navigating changes, such as program alterations or adapting to macroeconomic trends. He also facilitates cross-functional collaboration among clients, linking finance, accounting, and marketing to gain a more holistic understanding of program goals and initiatives. His client work is supplemented by speaking at actuarial conferences and co-authoring multiple whitepapers.

In the insurance sector, Mark has experience with reserving across most lines of business, with a particular focus on commercial lines. Throughout his career, he has worked with a diverse range of property and casualty insurance clients, including self-insured corporations, insurance companies, and captives. He enjoys communicating actuarial results to C-suite executives, audit committees, and other insurance leaders.

He earned his BS in Mathematics with a Concentration in Life Sciences from the University of Notre Dame and continues his love of Notre Dame football to this day. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids. His hobbies include running, working on the latest house projects, or balancing work and play in the yard with his kids.
