Mario is a partner and European lead in our Actuarial Practice.

A certified actuary, Mario has more than a decade of experience in the insurance industry. His main areas of expertise include economic valuations of insurance companies, Solvency II, asset and liability management (ALM), and broader risk modeling within the context of economic capital assessments.

With a strong technical background and extensive knowledge in the actuarial field, Mario brings a wealth of expertise to his role as an actuarial consultant. He is highly regarded for his client-facing approach and his ability to generate value by shaping and developing innovative solutions.

Early on in his career, Mario quickly realized that his passion lay in client-facing roles and being at the forefront of shaping and creating value. This realization led him to pursue a career in consulting, where he could leverage his technical expertise to directly impact the success of clients.

Mario and his team provide actuarial consulting services to help clients in analyzing and optimizing their risk, solvency, and capital positions. They also work to streamline and automate the underlying calculation processes, creating a unified risk and economic valuation environment.

Our work helps insurers in gaining a deeper understanding of the risk profile associated with the businesses they underwrite, as well as the value they provide to policyholders and shareholders. We offer guidance on how to effectively achieve their business objectives

Throughout his career, Mario has demonstrated a strong commitment to continuous learning and growth. He believes in the power of curiosity and appreciates that there is always something new to learn. He encourages aspiring professionals to stay hungry, be curious, and embrace every learning experience.

Mario holds a diploma in Business Mathematics as well as a PhD in Mathematics. He began his professional journey in the actuarial department of a large multinational insurance company, where he gained valuable experience and expertise. Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Mario held a leadership position in the German office of a prominent actuarial consulting firm.

Mario is married with two children who keep him happy and busy. Tennis is his sport of choice for recreation.
