Mahi is a senior advisor in our Banking and Financial Services Practice. He has led transformational risk programs in cyber, technology, and third‑party risk that were recognized by regulators and clients as leading-edge.
His work has included developing innovative global programs to enhance operational resiliency and improve enterprise risk management practices.
He is a former global head of nonfinancial risk and chief technology risk officer (CTRO) at State Street Corporation, where he pioneered the industry’s first integrated nonfinancial risk organization that combined cyber, technology, operational, third‑party, and resilience/business continuity risk domains.
Before joining State Street, Mahi’s career spanned entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial roles across Fortune 100 companies and startups, including senior positions such as chief technology officer/chief technologist, head of professional services and product management, and leadership roles in cyber and risk organizations.
Risk never stands still, it is a shape shifter, but what is constant and enduring is the strength and resiliency of an agile, data-driven risk team, supported by a dynamic, mature framework, that helps organizations withstand stress, protect value and emerge stronger from each new crisis
Since retiring from State Street, Mahi has focused on artificial intelligence and generative AI and now serves as a strategic advisor and investor to deep‑tech (including quantum), cyber, risk and AI startups. He also contributes to the sector through board service — most notably as a board member of the Advanced Cyber Security Center — and through involvement with several charitable organizations.
Mahi is a published author on technology, security and privacy, and an avid hiker who has twice completed Patagonia’s W trek and climbed Mount Washington in extreme conditions, among other adventures.
