Ken is a senior advisor in our Banking and Financial Services Practice.
He is an established leader with more than 30 years of experience in financial risk management and oversight at some of the world’s largest financial institutions. He currently serves on the board of Huntington Bancshares, where he chairs the Risk Oversight Committee. He also serves on the boards of Adtalem Global Education and Independence Mission Schools.
From 2014 to 2019, he served as the US Department of the Treasury’s first chief risk officer (CRO), establishing the Office of Risk Management. In this role, he also served as the acting director of the Office of Financial Research and was a non-voting member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC).

Before joining the Department of the Treasury, Ken served as CRO for Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Americas and the RBS global investment bank from 2012 to 2014. From 2009 to 2011, he was the CRO for Fannie Mae, where he led the restructuring of the institution after it was placed into conservatorship. During the 2008 financial crisis, Ken joined Wachovia Bank — then the fifth-largest US bank — as CRO, helping to lead its merger with Wells Fargo.
He holds a law degree from Villanova University School of Law, a master’s in economics from Trinity College Dublin, and a bachelor’s in finance from Old Dominion University.
Ken is married with four children. He and his Irish wife divide their time between the United States and Ireland and hold dual US and Irish citizenship.
