Hugo is a partner in Oliver Wyman’s Health and Life Sciences Practice, based in New York.

He collaborates with healthcare organizations to design and implement strategies that align enterprise objectives with the real-world needs of patients and members. With over 20 years of experience across payers, providers, life sciences, and digital health, Hugo specializes in translating strategic intent into scalable models that enhance outcomes, reduce costs, and drive measurable impact.

His work often sits at the intersection of patient engagement, data, and operational transformation. He partners with leadership teams to reimagine care delivery — leveraging behavioral, clinical, and contextual data to personalize services and improve decision-making across complex systems.

Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Hugo was a founding member of Publicis Sapient’s Healthcare Practice, where he led digital transformation initiatives and built multidisciplinary teams across strategy, product, experience, engineering, and data and artificial intelligence (AI). He previously held leadership roles at Digitas, overseeing AstraZeneca’s Future of Healthcare innovation unit, and co-founded Participle, a startup studio that created and scaled new public services in collaboration with the National Health Service (NHS) and other UK partners. Earlier in his career, he led a $30 million innovation fund at the National Endowment for Science, Technology, and the Arts (Nesta) and co-founded one of the UK’s first digital consultancies.

Hugo holds a degree in industrial design from Glasgow School of Art and an associate degree in business from Westminster University. He was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the University of London in recognition of his contributions to digital innovation and entrepreneurship.

Outside of work, Hugo is a trained health coach and maintains a deep interest in the personal dimensions of healthcare. He is a passionate foodie and can often be found cycling around New York City with one of his kids, taste-testing the city’s pizza, dim sum, or ramen noodles. He’s also doubling down on his Scottish roots and learning to play the bagpipes.
