Fumiaki (Fumi) is a partner in our Financial Services Practice and serves as the head of Japan.

With more than 20 years of management consulting experience, Fumi has been instrumental in serving clients across the globe, including those in Japan, the US, Greater China, and Southeast Asia. His deep expertise lies in wealth and asset management, digital and analytics, change management, and organizational culture.

As a trusted counselor to CEOs and C-Level executives, Fumi has advised banks, securities firms, insurance, and asset management companies on their most critical business agendas. He is known for delivering sustainable impact to clients embarking on large transformations, encompassing digital transformation, productivity enhancements, and associated capability building or culture shifts. His recent experience includes spearheading a multi-year digital transformation initiative for one of the largest Southeast Asian banks, leading a comprehensive productivity improvement program for a top bank in Japan, transforming the agent sales force of a Japanese life insurance company, and designing a CEO transition plan.

Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Fumi was a partner at a global consulting firm, where he led the Asia Pacific Wealth and Asset Management Practice and co-led the Financial Services Practice in the Japan and Southeast Asia markets.

Fumi holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Keio University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Outside of work, he enjoys golf, tennis, and jogging, as well as exploring new, often exotic destinations with his family, which includes two sons. He also loves diving into a good book.
