Etienne is a principal in our Actuarial Property and Casualty (P&C) Practice, based in Montreal. As deputy head of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) for the United States, he guides private equity investors, insurers, and reinsurers through the actuarial due diligence process for M&A and insurance‑linked securities (ILS) transactions.
Ever since joining Oliver Wyman, Etienne has helped clients connect technical findings to investment decisions. He is an expert in reserve reviews, underwriting performance analyses, downside risk modeling, and related analytics to inform valuation and deal structuring.
Etienne’s work spans the insurance value chain, including managing general agents (MGAs), insurers, reinsurers, and legacy (or run-off) carriers. He has experience in a wide range of sectors — from homeowners and personal auto to commercial, specialty, and casualty lines.
Moving from predictive modeling to M&A advisory may sound like a big leap, but it’s all driven by the same fascination with solving complex puzzles. That’s why the move felt natural — and why I’m so energized by the work
Etienne has more than a decade of actuarial experience. Earlier in his career, he worked at the innovation hub of a major Canadian insurer, specializing in data analytics and predictive modeling to enhance pricing and underwriting decisions across multiple lines of business.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in actuarial science from Université Laval and is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Outside of work, Etienne enjoys running, traveling the world, and playing chess — a passion he discovered during the pandemic.
