Cheryl is a Senior Manager at Oliver Wyman Actuarial Consulting Practice. She is located in the Los Angeles office where she provides property/casualty consulting services to a variety of clients. Cheryl has worked with a wide range of coverages, including workers’ compensation, general liability, and auto liability. Projects have included self-insurance reserve and loss projection studies.
Cheryl has over 30 years of actuarial experience with both consulting firms and insurance companies. Prior to joining the firm in April 2013, she was the Director and Chief Actuary at Veterinary Pet Insurance in Brea, California. While at VPI, Cheryl was a key member of the Product Development team and assisted in developing various pet health products, from design to implementation. She interacted regularly with the senior executive management team, reporting and advising on product and financial performances. Cheryl is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
I have always enjoyed solving puzzles and actuarial work seems to be a natural fit. I love to help clients solve puzzles and provide analytics to explain the results.
As a University Liaison with the Casualty Actuarial Society, since 2007, Cheryl has been serving as a mentor to undergraduate students at the University of California at Irvine. She provides guidance and real-life experience to students interested in pursuing a career in actuarial science. She is also a speaker at the Actuarial Science Club on campus.
