Carlos is a partner in Oliver Wyman’s Transportation and Services Practice and Operational functional team.

With more than 10 years of consulting experience, he has advised passenger and cargo airlines across multiple sectors in the US, Latin America, and Asia.

Carlos specializes in large-scale cost reduction transformations, airline operations, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) aftermarket, and value sourcing. Additionally, he has provided guidance to top-tier private equity firms on strategic investments in the aviation industry. One of his notable recent projects involved leading the implementation of an airline restructuring plan, resulting in savings of over $550 million in aircraft leases and approximately $230 million in maintenance costs over a five-year period.

His other work in the aviation industry includes developing a turnaround assessment and implementation plan to rescue an airline from bankruptcy caused by the pandemic, conducting a cost reduction analysis for a low-cost carrier in South America, and designing and implementing a labor planning strategy for a maintenance organization.

In my experience, no two problems are the same. That drives me to approach each challenge with a fresh perspective and a commitment to finding the right solution

Carlos holds an MBA from IESE Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management, and an MSc in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Pontificia Comillas. An accomplished keynote speaker, Carlos is fluent in English and Spanish and speaks basic Portuguese.
