Bob is a distinguished airline executive with over 40 years of experience in aviation, including more than 35 years in major airline leadership roles.

Throughout his career, Bob has held comprehensive responsibilities across flight operations, technical operations, employee relations, communications, safety management, and FAA certificate administration. He has also represented the industry on the Airlines for America Operations Council and the International Air Transport Association Operations Planning Committee.

Most recently, Bob served as Vice President of Flight Operations and Director of Operations (Part 119) at Hawaiian Airlines. In this role, he oversaw all aspects of flight operations, including the Systems Operations Control Center, leading a team of 1,200 pilots and dispatchers. He was accountable for operational safety, fiscal management, and efficiency initiatives. Bob played a key role in implementing a rigorous regulatory compliance and system safety framework and in managing the flight operations department during the integration of the single operating certificate for Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines.

Prior to his tenure at Hawaiian Airlines, Bob dedicated 31 years to American Airlines, with 15 years in flight leadership. His experience there spanned global widebody and domestic narrowbody operations, serving as Chief Pilot (Part 119), leading technical operations, and conducting pilot checking and instruction across multiple fleet types. He also managed personnel oversight for more than 8,000 pilots across the Western United States.

Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from San Jose State University. He is an Airline Transport Pilot with type ratings on the Boeing 787, 767, 757, Fokker F100, DA50, and N265, and holds additional FAA certifications, including Flight Engineer-Turbojet, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII). Before his commercial aviation career, Bob gained valuable experience in business aviation flying for Hewlett-Packard.

Bob’s extensive expertise and leadership have consistently driven operational excellence and safety in the aviation industry.

Outside of work, Bob and his wife enjoy traveling, great food, and wine tasting. He also looks forward to skiing, cycling, and backpacking when time permits.
