Birgit is the chief people officer for the Americas at Oliver Wyman, where she oversees all human resources activities across the business.
With more than 20 years of experience in strategic human capital management, Birgit is recognized for her ability to help companies achieve their commercial objectives by setting and executing people strategies that attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering a connected, and inclusive culture.
Before joining Oliver Wyman, Birgit was a managing director and global HR business partner at BlackRock, supporting the firm’s Technology and Operations and Innovation Hub organizations. She also served on BlackRock’s San Francisco leadership team.

Earlier in her career, Birgit led global partner affairs for Booz & Co. (renamed Strategy& after its acquisition by PwC), where she was responsible for the strategy and execution of performance and talent management, compensation, incentive design, and the broader partner value proposition for the firm’s top 300 leaders. She also served on the global strategy consulting leadership team.
She holds a BA with honors in business economics from Wirtschaftsakademie in Hamburg, Germany, and an MBA with honors in finance and public policy from The Wharton School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Birgit has served on several boards, including the Women’s Leadership Board at the Women and Public Policy Program at the Harvard Kennedy School; the advisory council of the Center for Equity, Gender and Leadership at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley; and the advisory board of the Science of Diversity and Inclusion Initiative.
She grew up in Bremen, in northern Germany, and now lives outside San Francisco in with her husband, J.P., and their three children. On weekends, she can be found cheering loudly on the sidelines of soccer fields and volleyball courts throughout California.
