Adam Lewis is a Principal in Oliver Wyman’s Property & Casualty Actuarial Practice, based in Atlanta, GA. A self-proclaimed “atypical actuary,” Adam has always been a people person and was steered towards alternate career paths early on. Unable to ignore the draw of the challenge math posed, Adam eventually dove in and passed all actuarial exams in half of the time of the average candidate. “I’m driven to avoid being wrong and am led by a sense of duty. This bodes well for my clients,” he says.
I feel lucky to be able to leverage the intersection of math and people that I have at Oliver Wyman.
Adam strives to make Risk Managers’ lives easier by leveraging historical data and innovative technology solutions to provide insight and intelligence. He regularly works with clients that have vast libraries of risk management data (claims, exposures, etc.), but not enough time to use it. The challenge for these clients is to derive actionable insight from this data, with limited resources – which is where Adam comes in.
I am excited by the opportunity of leveraging technology to identify the (often hidden) nuggets of meaningful information, and to leverage technology to help tell the underlying story presented in the data.
Adam keeps abreast of industry trends to ensure his analytics carry weight in a constantly evolving property and casualty risk environment. He is a regular speaker at risk management conferences, with a recent focus in data analytics. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuary Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Economics from Mercer University.
In his own words, a life goal of Adam’s is to “make a massive, positive impact on the world, while maintaining a happy, healthy and loving family life, built on strength.”
