There is much room for improvement in the Insurance industry. Having been responsible for growth, digitalization, and customer experience at a major insurer, I realized that it is sometimes hard to be a prophet in your own hometown. If I really wanted to make a difference, I was better off leaving the industry and acting as an external advisor — that is when I decided to rejoin Oliver Wyman, my very first employer — to help reshape the industry.
Sara began her career at Oliver Wyman. She worked in our Stockholm office between 2005 and 2010, helping clients shape their corporate strategy, distribution, customer experience, segmentation, and product development. During her career, Sara has worked in various senior roles, including as Business Development Manager at SEB — a leading Nordic financial services group; as Head of Strategy at RSA Scandinavia — one of the world’s oldest general insurers with established businesses in the UK, Ireland, continental Europe, and the Middle East; and as Head of Go-to-Market at Trygg-Hansa — a leading Swedish general insurer. She has also served as a council member for a major Life and Pensions player in the Nordics, Skandia.
Having worked on the other side of the fence — as a frequent client to strategy consulting firms — has enabled me to become a stronger consultant. I know what really makes a difference, and the importance of not only the right strategy, but also the right culture, communication and execution power.
Sara rejoined Oliver Wyman in 2022 and holds a MSc in Business & Management from Stockholm School of Economics. Outside of work, Sara enjoys a good book and practices yoga. She also founded a regional pet platform across a range of services, including working with partnerships in the insurance space. Sara has dedicated time for advising and mentoring tech-startups, working part-time for an incubator. She is passionate about social entrepreneurship and is a board member of a Furniture-as-a-Service (FaaS) company, that allows companies to furnish their offices in a more flexible and sustainable way.
