An avid problem-solver and lover of riddles, Suzanne found her home in consulting after achieving bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Physics, and a master’s degree in History and Philosophy of Science. The goal of this exotic mix of degrees, she notes, was not to prepare her for the job market as much as it was to understand the world a bit better.

The constant need for learning new things through complex problem solving is what makes consultancy such a good fit for me – always a new problem to solve, and never the same situation twice

Now a Principal in Oliver Wyman’s Retail and Consumer Goods Practice, Suzanne applies her analytical background in projects for retailers including grocers, consumer electronics retailers, and quick-service restaurants. Much of her work is devoted to helping her clients work more efficiently. More specifically, she focuses on commercial topics, such as pricing and assortment, as well as operational topics, like cost and supply chain. Outside of the retail space, she has also developed several risk models for insurers.

Thanks to my analytical background, I have the confidence that (almost) every problem can be solved – if you structure it well enough

Outside of project work, Suzanne leads the Amsterdam office’s charity and social impact committee. The committee raised more than €10,000 for Stichting Je mag er zijn during Oliver Wyman’s annual charity auction. “That’s a whole different type of impact – that we can be proud of as an entire Amsterdam office,” she says.
