Through this initiative, we are supporting organizations that are developing and providing carbon removal solutions. Our focus is not just on financial support, but also on fostering employee education and engagement. Through a series of webinars, site visits, pro bono consulting engagements and ongoing educational initiatives, our program aims to not only support the scaling of these important solutions, but to transfer the knowledge to our clients and communities.
At Oliver Wyman, a business of Marsh McLennan, we are committed to achieving net zero emissions across Marsh McLennan’s global operations by 2050. Our near-term targets, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), align with the latest climate science. Additionally, we have maintained our status as a CarbonNeutral® company since 2020 by compensating for emissions we can’t reduce.
To accelerate our progress, we are focusing on our largest source of emissions: air travel. Understanding that travel is essential to our business, we have developed a strategy to travel more purposefully and reduce emissions where possible. We have instituted an internal carbon price for air travel, which funds our Climate Leadership Portfolio, supporting projects that develop and scale carbon removal solutions. This strategy ensures accountability for our environmental impact and emphasizes colleague engagement and education on decarbonization, climate solutions, and environmental stewardship, fostering a culture of sustainability.

Our Climate Academy is a learning and training curriculum designed to give all consulting staff the tools they need to execute high-impact strategies for our clients through the climate transition.
GROW is a global community of colleagues who seek to make tangible impact by supporting Oliver Wyman’s commitment to sustainability, particularly at the local office level. Using our Actioning Net Zero online hub, featuring role-specific best practices and training, the GROW teams take the lead in engaging colleagues on our commitments and spreading the message that every job is a climate job.
Launched in December 2021, our philanthropic reforestation program, GROWTrees, works with nonprofits such as One Tree Planted to give our colleagues the opportunity to have a voice in supporting reforestation projects. The focus is not just on planting, but also nurturing trees over time. Combined with in-person urban tree planting efforts, the program has supported the planting and growing of more than 130,000 trees and counting.
Additional tools are available to Oliver Wyman employees on our Actioning Net Zero hub, featuring role-specific best practices, tools and training to help the organization adapt to a more sustainable way of working. Colleagues can progress their knowledge of climate and sustainability topics on Degreed, utilize a travel carbon footprint estimator to minimize the impact of upcoming business travel, and more.
The Mangrove Breakthrough
We support the Mangrove Breakthrough, a multi-stakeholder initiative aiming to mobilize $4 billion to protect and restore 15 million hectares of mangroves by 2030. Building on our initial support through the 2024 CLP, we will advance this goal in 2025 with a donation to a mangrove restoration project in the Gulf of Guayaquil, Ecuador.
SeaGen
We support SeaGen's efforts in developing automated robots to monitor and support nature, enhance food and water security, replace oil-based materials, and help decarbonize the atmosphere. We will assist in the modularization and optimization of four buoy systems, as well as the launch of their citizen science mobile app.
Planboo
We back Planboo's Biochar carbon dioxide removal (CDR) project in central Thailand, where bamboo waste is turned into valuable biochar to remove carbon, improve local soils, and support farming communities. Our support includes a three-year offtake agreement to purchase carbon credits from Planboo via Patch, a climate solution platform.
Karbonetiq
We've committed to a three-year advance market commitment to purchase carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits through Artemeter, a carbon investment manager, supplied by Karbonetiq. Industrial byproducts like steel slag transform CO₂ into stable minerals. We are proud to support a scalable, energy-efficient, high-durability CDR pathway that directly contributes to industrial decarbonization.
ClimateForce
We support ClimateForce, an Australian charity preserving the Daintree rainforest. This ecosystem absorbs carbon dioxide and combats climate change. ClimateForce pioneers solutions for regenerating ecosystems and building climate resilience. Their efforts enhance local environmental, social, and economic resilience. Our support helps pilot scalable solutions for tropical regions worldwide.
