As a teenager, Uwe’s ambition was to leave school and work at a gas station. Lucky for us, he continued his education right through to a doctorate and switched his career focus to telecommunications.
After a decade working in industry, I moved to Oliver Wyman because I knew there were some great people in the firm who had impressed me with their team spirit. Being a good team player is a rare skill that outranks any other, including how smart you are.
Uwe collaborates with telecoms companies to help them optimize their investments in large, critical infrastructure projects and how they deliver them. Assisting in the deployment of new technology like fiber broadband and 5G at a national scale is a once-in-a-generation opportunity that he relishes being a part of.
I aim to spend a third of my time coaching my team and mentees, sharing leadership advice, and seeking out ideas from people who have a different view of the world to me.
Uwe is a leader of Oliver Wyman’s internal sustainability efforts, and helped launch our business’ carbon offsetting program.
When my work is done and the kids are fed and pampered, I like to reconnect with nature through time in the countryside spent cycling or walking with my camera in one hand and my wife at the other.
