Based out of New York, Tom leads Oliver Wyman’s private equity operational services, with expertise in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as well as post-acquisition value enhancement including buyer and vendor diligence, business transformation, operating model design, carve-outs and integrations, and cost take-out.
Tom is a seasoned business executive with a unique finance, strategy, and operations background developed through a long tenure in critical business driver positions such as private equity portfolio company CFO and CEO, private equity operating partner, M&A Practice leader consultant, and board member. He is an experienced operator with several roles with full P/L responsibility and a history of increasing shareholder value. Recently, he has utilized his experience to lead public company readiness in IPOs and SPAC transactions, and corporate restructuring projects.
Before jumping into the private equity space, Tom utilized his strong accounting and finance background as the vice president of finance at a leading consumer packaged goods company. He has also held leadership roles at two other global consultancies, and a Fortune 500 business.
The value I bring companies today is driven by a ‘been there and done that’ experience. Having sat in the executive’s seat myself, I can now be certain that my recommendations are highly practical and based on personal experience.
As an operator, Tom has been known for strategic problem solving and taking tangible actions to implement solutions to achieve profit improvement and promote growth in challenging environments. As a consultant, he has substantial experience leading and advising on large transactions where he had to quickly assess strategic and operational issues in due diligence, and identify value enhancement opportunities. He has primarily worked with industrial, retail and consumer, healthcare, insurance, and business and financial services sectors.
I love making a difference: the work I do at Oliver Wyman is the most fulfilling when my clients are satisfied. For example, during a recent SPAC project, the CFO admitted they could not have achieved public company readiness without Oliver Wyman.
Tom was class valedictorian in his MBA program at the University of Notre Dame and received his undergraduate accounting degree from Miami University (Ohio). Tom is passionate about three things: family, staying fit, and self-improvement. He loves getting time away with his wife and family and is an avid golfer and skier.
