Now a Talent Management Lead for the Financial Services and Horizontal Practices in EMEA, Fern started out at Oliver Wyman focused on talent management within the Corporate Finance and Advisory and Organizational Effectiveness teams. Her role has since grown to also include the Retail and Business Banking teams, as well as the Organizational Effectiveness Specialist group.

Fern spent the first few years of her career at an online tech start-up, where she was focused on the employee experience and its relationship to the company’s overall brand strategy. After a short stint into the world of TV and film, she found her home at a range of management and strategy consultancies. Close to a decade later, she has further deepened her expertise to encompass areas of HR, employee relations, and talent management.

What I love about my role in talent management is that it’s so diverse and provides a new challenge every day. The ‘human’ element of the role is so rewarding and despite the often high-impact decisions that we need to make, it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to help people in their careers.

For Fern, one of the most exciting parts of her role is the opportunity to see the talent management team constantly grow and change, whether that’s through technology deployments, employee expectations, or the needs of the firm. “There are few other departments that span such a wide berth. We interact with nearly all other areas of the business – it’s amazing exposure and guarantees a variety in the day to day,” she explains.

As a native Londoner and avid foodie, Fern is always looking for new places to explore in her local community. When she’s not out exploring, Fern is focusing on her current home renovation project and her adorable labradoodle, Indi.
