As a Senior Consultant for Oliver Wyman Actuarial Consulting, Dana provides risk financing guidance on actuarial assignments for single and multi-line primary insurers, title insurers, reinsurance companies, self-insured, captive insurance companies, and public entities involving various lines of business.
Dana has been providing actuarial consulting since 2011. Prior to joining Oliver Wyman's Melville office in 2020, Dana served as a Consulting Actuary at Milliman, where she provided consulting services on loss reserving, rate level and funding projections, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, statement of actuarial opinions, and cash flow analyses.
Dana’s collective experience spans property and casualty lines of business including D&O, homeowners, auto liability, general liability, and workers compensation with a specialization in title insurance. “As a homeowner, and as an actuary, I am an expert in title insurance. Homeownership impacts more than half of Americans at some point in their lives. As a consultant who cares, I want to help make an impact on the most important part of the closing process,” she explains.
The insurance world is changing with InsurTech startups and constantly evolving technology. It’s important to stay in the forefront of the insurance industry with the highest quality work products and insurance insights.
Dana describes herself as a planner, both personally and professionally. “I want my clients to know what to expect and when to expect results. Being proactive with my time and execution of work has made me a very responsive consultant for my clients. Excel has woven its way into every fabric of my life, I even plan all of my family vacation itineraries using spreadsheets!” she says. To anyone entering the field, Dana’s advice is to find a mentor, ask questions, and work with a talented team who you can learn from every day.
Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working with some of the best consultants in our field who shaped and molded me into the consultant I am today. There is always something new to learn and working with a team who complements you gives you the opportunity to continue to learn and grow as a consultant.
Believing mentorship to be key to success, Dana serves as a mentor herself, advising and coaching actuaries who are just starting their careers. As a university liaison for Hofstra University, her alma mater, she works with students looking to enter the actuarial field as well as professors looking to shape the actuarial curriculum.
Dana is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and recently authored Title Insurance And COVID-19: What Does The Pandemic Mean For The Title Industry?
