Alexey is a Principal with Oliver Wyman's Finance and Risk Practice, based in Zurich. He specializes in risk management, digital banking and big data and analytics solutions in the banking sector. Alexey supports banks in their transition to Internal Risk Based (IRB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS 9). Throughout his career, he has been involved in the development and validation of more than 30 IRB models in corporate, retail, project finance, and other segments.
Alexey has more than ten years of experience in consulting with leading financial institutions in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He has also spent four years with Oliver Wyman's Singapore office, gaining unique expertise in risk management and analytics enhancement in the banking sector.
I believe the European financial sector will face disruptive transformation in the next 3-5 years in terms of massive digitization and the use of advanced analytics. The faster the existing players adapt to changing environment, the more chances they will have to retain their leading positions in the market.
Alexey is particularly inspired by projects where advanced analytics and data science help transform the financial services sector and deliver real impact for the economy and wealth of the population, for instance, building a digital credit process based on algorithms that were trained on big data, or developing algorithms based on deep learning techniques that can detect terrorist financing schemes and help prevent crimes.
Alexey has a Master of Science degree in mathematics from the Lomonosov Moscow State University and a master's degree in economics from the New Economic School University.
